Let the Little Children Come...|
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
At IHS one of our proudest moments is when our children come up from Sunday School and share what they've learned that day. They process up the center aisle and offer whatever they've created to place on the altar along with the congregation's offering and the Eucharist.
But Sunday School is just one way in which our children participate in our church.
Every summer, to close out the year's Sunday School, students and our dedicated teachers hold Alex's Lemonade Stand to raise money for children with cancer. With baked goods and cold lemonade, our kids raise more money every year.
When winter comes around, our children rehearse for weeks, suit up in costumes handmade by our sewing circle, and take out the doll who has been playing Jesus as long as anyone can remember. Our Christmas pageant is a precious part of the season.
No matter what time of year, it's heartwarming to hear our children help Father Ben with our dismissal, shouted with love, "GO IN PEACE TO LOVE AND SERVE THE LORD!"
